Anonymous visits on some pictures

Thursday March 27, 2008 at 11:32PM

It strikes me how some pictures get a lot of views and when I look at which people viewed it, I'm surprised that I got about 9-11 views from ipernity members and a whooping 311 views from anonymous people. I guess this means that the photo must be linked somewhere, but I couldn't find any references neither on technorati nor in google. Or is it search engines that scan the pages?

The specific image I'm talking about is this:
www.ipernity.com/doc/donandre/1507447

How can I find out where the people are coming from or if this is linked somewhere?

a definition of heterochromia...
1745 anonymous visitors
1767 visitors at all...

Wow that's a lot of visits!! I wonder if ipernity even has such a number of active users.
Your picture is on the second page of a google image search for heterochromia

on flickr there was something similar going on now and then - and it turned out to be some sort of a deep-link...

Don't forget that under Preferences/Privacy Settings one can opt out that his or her visits to others show up and with that become anonymous

Obviously many people opt for that. Or thy simply do not log in every time

Another plead for Documents "visible to logged in members only" from my side. On my stream I see only about 10-15% of my visitors.

True, but somehow all the people I added to my network have showed up to have visited me at one point. My pictures are not tagged and thus hard to find otherwise. I haven't seen one of them on what's hot either, in fact I wonder how people do find me at all, except for my network of course where I don't think a lot have opted out.

Well I think that many of your visitors can be the contacts of contacts of contacts …
And as your friend mentioned it before many of ipernety user don’t log in, or choose to surf anonymously so that’s why they don’t show up.

As described here: www.ipernity.com/blog/manganite/54093

for me this effect shows up for almost all pictures. I observed that since several months, but the effect seems to increase more and more.
