Feature request: CC+ implementation

Saturday January 26, 2008 at 10:40PM

Creative Commons has launched CCPlus to make it easy to both use a Creative Commons license for non-commercial use, and at the same time sell trough a company for commercial use. It would be great if Ipernity teamed up with one or more companies that sells photos for commercial use, and implemented CCPlus to make it easier for people who find a photo on ipernity they want to use commercially to buy that right. Having ipernity be a dead simple way of making money off of your photos could drive in some more users.

Here are some mockups of how Creative Commons thinks that Flickr could implement CC+. How about beating them to it?

One of the CC licenses already allows commercial use.

forteller pro replies:
Yes, there are CC licenses that allow commercial use, and CC+ is not a new CC license, it's just a way to make it easier to buy or sell the right to commercial use for those who does not want to give that right away. So you use one of the CC licenses that does not allow commercial use, and then you add information about, and a link to, where you can buy that right. That is CC+.

That's a good idea indeed and it will make transition to CC easier. Non-commercial organizations and people will benefit.
