I love the fact that you don't have to be afraid of censorship when you upload your pictures to Ipernity, that is absolutely the way it should be! But still, some times it can be a problem that any time you go to ipernity.com you must be prepared to face a NSFW picture on the front page. This is very unfortunate if you're actually at work or school, or in any other setting where nude pictures are not appropriate. Also after logging in you might face NSFW pictures in the "Latest docs from your network" area on your homepage. As I said; normally the lack of censorship is a good thing, but sitting at school today, logging in to Ipernity I felt a little awkward when this was what greeted me:
I know, this is not very NSFW, but still I felt a small discomfort, and it could very easily been much "worse"! Also before I got that far I had to log in through the front page, where a much larger NSFW picture could have been. As I've said; I don't have a problem with that normally, but in some situations it would be very handy if I could be certain that I would not be greeted by any (semi) NSFW pictures, neither on the front page, or on my home page.
That is why I would like to propose the idea of ipernity.com/sfw. /sfw would look and feel exactly the same as ipernity.com, with the one exception that everything would be SFW, both on the front page, and everywhere else on ipernity, both before and after logging in. After that it would also be quite easy to implement a feature for logged in users to always use the SFW version of Ipernity if they would prefer that for some reason (small children in the house, jealous wifes, etc.). But first and foremost ipernity.com/sfw would make it safe for normal users of Ipernity to also log in from work, school, and other places where (semi) nude pictures is not accepted.
What do you think? Would you use such a feature, or do you think it's a bad idea? Please voice your opinion!

I know that people does not like censorship but we should be able to log on where ever we are, with whom ever by our side, and without having to worry about opening sites with to much nudity. I am sure most of us would not vote for a photo here on Iperntiy if it were showing hard core porn, so I guess there is some kind of censorship here after all. It is only done by us the members :) The question is; where do we draw the limit! My friend closed his eyes long before I saw something worth looking at :) We should make this site accessible for everyone, even my religious friend :)

I tag my photos with this tag because I want to keep track of the photos I upload from Iceland and Canada on this site.
Don't get me wrong. I like naked women, but what you are trying to say here is absolutely right. I think at least one of the Ipernity staff should answer your post. They might not have seen it yet but I hope they do.

And, no, Ipernity hasn't seen this post yet, but I just mentioned it in a message to them, so I hope they'll read it soon.

And even if we manage to finde a consensus about that: Who does all the work? Everyone would have to categorise his pictures properly. Don't get me wrong I've no problem with that, since only a few of my pictures even show people. But I'm sure there are many which aren't even aware that there might be a problem.
I agree with you. this topic is problematic. But I don't see a solution that suites everyone worldwide. the understanding of moral differs to much all around the world.
And to answer your other question: No I wouldn't use the feature. If I'd be afraid I could not stand for what is shown here I'd just not go online. because (almost) naked people can happen to you even on news pages...

I'd say that since this is only meant as a totally optional choice made each time you visit, and not once for all, and never should be anything but optional, ipernity could be very broad in what they censor in the SFW-version. Most people will not use the SFW-version unless they're in a public area, like at work, at school, in a public library, or the like, so it won't matter if they censor a little too much. Better a little too much than a little too little (only because it's optional, of course, if not I'd say that it's the other way around).
When it comes to the question of how to actually do it, I don't think that each person would have to tag her or his own photos. Just look at image search engines; There's no human beings wading through all the photos and tagging some as NSFW, but yet, when you turn on the safe search filter most, if not all, of the NSFW material is filtered out. I'm sure ipernity could implement that kind of automatic filtering too.
