"I'm in a place where I don't know where I am."*
The floods have returned. I came off the motorway this morning and the exit slip road was flooded. If it wasn't absolutely pissing it down I'd stopped to take photos. Then I saw a drain with so much water that it started coming back out of it. It was like a mini-fountain! I think I need a waterproof housing for my camera so that I could go take silly pictures in the rain.

Man, what is with you guys and the floods this year? And the winter during July in Europe? And with HK and a 9 year high of clean air over the last two months (as I just read in the paper.. who knows if it's true, but the sky seems suspiciously blue. Wonder if they're just painting it for the Olympics?) Weather bizarre.
Seriously, those floods are bad. Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic experienced some bad floods a few years ago and some regions still haven't recovered completely from the environmental, not to speak of the economic damage.
Baron von Beerfest replies:
Yeah, floods were bad in June, but it was much much worse yesterday. I was trapped at work last night. The town where I work became an island. None of the routes N, S, E, or W out of town did not have a flooded part. Some of my colleagues got on the road and turned back to the office where it was still relatively warm and dry. I was lucky I managed to find a friend to stay with. We came back out on the road this morning [they were going on holiday!] and everywhere we went there were just abandoned cars. Just watching the news now and there are people who have been stranded on the motorway for over 20 hours. The motorway service station had bits under feet of water with cars floating. I was lucky I left work too late to even find a route to the motorway, or else I would have just been stuck out there in the cold instead being nice and wam at my friend's house!
