i mean EVERYONE now, it's so easy to make someone an admin instead spending hour or so just removing everyone from the group and closing it... well, i don't want to be rude, but what the hell is going on? if people are so tired of this place, ok. they are adult and can go, but fuck! why they think that i will be so glad to be admin of another group? geeeeeeeeeeeez... i'm angry.

i did, but making me an admin and making me responsible for closing other groups is just unfair.
do you know how it looks? you must remove every member. it took me hours. if someone had the idea, created the group and so someone should think of deleting group and not making others admins .... is it so complicated?

there is NO OTHER way to close the group, everyone must go, and you just removing member by member. people find it very easy to just go away, don't think of others at all, one email with simple question would make a difference...
but, as i said, people prefer to just run away...
thank you! it is very fresh and sunny in glasgow!

My apologizes M., for the trouble. And everything. On a general note, perhaps it should not be so that the next in line of group members are automatically appointed as admin when all admins leaves a group (however I would like to stress that this is not the case here as I am still standing as the sole admin for the group in question & will myself take the responsibility for the closing of the group).

ipernity is pretty silent lately. i've been offline 6 weeks and it's more like graveyard full of lurkers, no-one leaves comments, they JUST WATCH... i said it before but i will repeat that again: I HATE LURKERS! if someone can't find my pics worth commenting why the hell one is watching them?

I've never been a member that has been too active. The last few weeks - I guess - I've been even less active, but that has nothing to do with ipernity. Real life called for some attention and I listened. (School, friends, family, scouting...)

I don't know if anyone has use for this comment. I just tried to make transparent the behaviour of at least one user. For me it was like waking up from winter sleep, seeing how much things there were to do. Maybe for others, too...

about Lurkers, i just read a comment on your last photo about leaving a message, and then i remembered why i don't always leave comments. it's not for lurking, but sometimes, well, i don't have inspiration and i don't feel like writing something superficial like 'great' or 'nice'... i could write this to hundreds of photos and it wouldn't come from the heart. i'm sure lots of people come see your photos and really appreciate them, but leave comments only when they find something original to say, or when the photo - or something in it - moves them more than other photos - which is very personal... so, this explains some uncommented visits...
sometimes i just look in a hurry, give a vote and continue family business of other...(my son is very demanding, ...) but i do wonder where all the anonimous visiters come from.

i don't want to be original, i want to show people that i like their work. i'm not an artist and i don't want to pretend one. i am the way i am. but because we share i expect that people will share their thoughts as well... but maybe i'm too demanding :)
Posted 19 months ago. ( permalink )
Lodchjo replies:
oh, sis, don't get too angry. not everybody is as eloquent as to expressing their thoughts. and i'm sure there's also people admiring and feeling they are too 'small' to leave their humble comment, out of pure respect. then, there's some people who only comment when they want to give positive critique or a hint in some way, hence, silence means approval.
others may say "great" (or similar) all the time for all the photos they like and remain silent on others. but it says only little - though - of course, i also like that.
well, there's lots of people with lots of characters and styles; i don't know the average comment/view rate, maybe 1 comment in every 4, 5 or 6... visits, sometimes even 1/10?
keep up, sis. enjoy your regular visitors; friends like shi*, rafaln, ...
if all people that see all of your photos all leave comments, you'd have a full-time-job thanking them!
*hug*

bro, it's just i HATE lurkers! and i HATE that people always think that because i am nice person in general they can throw something on me. i don't agree for that. i'm not nice sometimes and i'm rather demanding especially from myself. and because i used to check all my groups and tried to leave comments i thought it would be just good example. it turned up pretty bad for me so now i'm gonna be "zimna sunia" :)
really, i don't think that i was expecting "too much", only a bit of respect. so, it made me angry and because i am the way i am i don't feel any need to hide that. i'm always honest, if one doesn't like, here is an option "block this user"...

some one put me on as an administrator for a group, Initially I ignored it, soon tons of people were joining and I felt the fear that if people were associating me with a group I did not create, that there's some serious misrepresentation going on here. Lurkers were a great punk band circa 76/77 English punk. I like them. The lead singer is dead and that may be the reason that Ipernity is dead except for mpph. My video group started with 16 members and everyone except one of the administraitors dropped out. The guy who created the group dropped out.
I do not know what the yahoo is about but yahoo is the reason we're here, thank god for yahoo? But on flickr now those bastards are gonna rip off the video aesthetic we have over here now, One and two minute videos. We put an awful lot of work into creating this platform and yahoo obviously has been lurking on the Ipernity sight to rip the avant guard off. Probably the best way to mess up the video flickr jive is to make longer videos over here. Post a link over there and say, sorry suckers flickr is a half ass imitation of the real deal non art imaging collective called Ipernity. Keep those "artists" over there. I'm not much of a groupie, pretty much have my hands full for one minute a day, and this weekend I and sick, so instead of lurking I've,... gotta get out and make another vid.

It's starting to creep me out, not the lurkers on line, but all the people just watching, and they point their cameras around. Some of them are official Lurkers, paid by the state to lurk and make sure no one is publicly having any fun. I'd just assoon they keep thier faves to themselves and shut up. God it is a conspiracy. Soon people will get used to the strange social interaction engineered here and they will start acting like this for real in the city square! Maybe they already do, I stay out of the public scene loads more since everyone started getting pissy about it all, ha, but I live in a small town with serious growing pains, idenity crisis ville, the internet makes everyone feel international. But it's really global claustrophobia. It's worse on other web forums. Ipernity is the cite that will break through the wave of paranoia, others will follow. Pretty soon all the lurkers will unmask and run through the streets naked. I seem to have lost the initail focus for this group? Do not make me administrator, thanks?

Probably I am too old for bands and have deluded myself for the last year or so that some day I'll find people who share the same lack of promise and the same disreguard for what was perpetuated by the now retiring "baby boomers" When I was born they were young and by the time I got in a band all that I heard on the radio was boomer music. Post boomer music, by the way "PUnK" is late boomer music bah, is now begining to surface via internet. The thing is though, it was "that" generation who made the big thing about being young. They are the ones who plant all the jive about 50 being the new 25 etc,... and I love them for it. Because if fifty is the new twenty five, I'm 18. Maybe I can enlist in the army? Too bad they're not drafting my age. yep too old to play in a band. Same with photography though, Cartier Bresson, Robert Frank Berenice Abbot, Diane Arbus etc,... had fascinating early careers in photography, but all dropped out in one way or another becoming parodies of themselves and or a photographic versions of the Rolling Stones. I'm too old. I'm told. Miles Davis was never too old? I'm not him. So yeah, maybe I won't ever get a band together. I'm done with everything I am too old. But since I've hung out with 80 year olds all my life, perhaps I'll never grow up.

Scottish men are nearly indecipherable. I like the Scottish bands though: Mogwai, Primal Scream, Fire Engines, Jesus and the Marychain, in particular. I probably don't know any others, but when Scots sing, I can kind of get what they are saying, it's just the talking bit that escapes me. Scots learning Polish reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail where a Scotsman is acting like a Frenchman before they start catapulting cows over the castle walls at Sir Lancelot?

Local apathy may be a key ingredient to great bands. Always stay in a town where you are not a star, then you can work and won't develop a puffed out ego. It's funny, I watched that movie in highschool as a part of a western civilization course. Then I dropped out of highschool. Are you from Europe? The accent is kind of a give away. In town I hear a lot more Europeans sounding talk.... Funny maybe Scots feel as though they are so much a part of the west that Europe doesn't exist this side of east Germany.

A guy at a bookstore said he worked it this way, One novel, One non fiction, one book of poems and I can't remember what else he said, but these all run simutaniously for him, Not two novels three books of poetry and nine different philosophical treatise at once.
