... is the number of visits to my photostream.

Why I noticed it?

Simply said: for the first time, the number of visits to my Ipernity account is greater than the number of views of my Flickr account.

I know: this two counters are different, but this is a sign that the number of users of a photosharing site isn't fundamental variable in the popularity of a single user and is it possible to effectively share even in a site that is a thousandth of Flickr.

So if it's possible for an amateur like me, it is possible for great artists too. I'm positively thinking: will have more great artists on Ipernity and they will attract more and more users and we will enjoy a very high quality web 2.0 site with lots of good shots: tell it again to your Flickr friends!

Since I joined Ipernity beginning of November, I have been spending much, much more time here than on flickr. I'm sure i'm not the only one!
You mentioned that the counters are different. How's that?

Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
They are different because the structure of the sites are different and because the definition of a visit changed over time. I remember that in Flickr when someone commented and faved a shot it counted for 3 views (now itisn't non more so). In Ipernity, if I remember well, there have to be a timepriod between to visits to count them as different; it was one day, than one hour and now I think it is in the order of the minutes (and it exlains the sudden incerase in visits we all experimented some time ago)

The one thing that I have noticed since coming over from Flickr is that the quality of work and creativity seems to be of a much higher overall standard here - that for me at the moments counts for more than the number of views I ran up on Flickr. There's more here to inspire me and that is important...

...also I love the blog feature here on ipernity!
