Conversation with a Taxi driver

Monday October 29, 2007 at 04:19PM

The last two days I had some pretty nice Taxi drivers.

Showing me around, explaining me things, well and explaining me things I’m not sure I wanna know ;).

Like today, one guy, Sri Lankan, tells me that Europeans are the better people. They are better then the Middle Eastern. Middle Eastern think only about money and fucking.

Huh?

First time I thought, I didn’t hear right, but he repeated it about two more times. I was not fast enough with my brain to switch my camera to video mode, oh well

He went on explaining that all Europeans are good people, like Germans, Austrians, Japanese, Australians and so……

OK? Sure, man, keep it up

I love to listen to them, especially when they say "too much" instead of "too many" ;)
Gives conversations a whole different meaning .

This was a Taxi driver from Egypt.

I wonder if it helps to find the address when one stairs at the card for 5 minutes (while driving)

I don't know, I was pretty speechless and tried to make mental notes for later ;)
The money & fucking combination is, I think, worldwide in the so called "developed" countries.
I mean, how many women want something when they give their precious something up (oups, did I write that?)

;)

I usually assume that they do that "nice" talking to get a bigger tip. So I basically expect them to say what they think I want to hear. The question is, does this racism work with other white customers or is it just the driver's ignorance that makes him believe people want to hear that stuff... And what stories is he telling his Arab customers?

NicoleB pro replies:
Arab customers won't talk to the drivers, me thinks ;)

And they are usually pretty blunt when they warm up to you.
Hubby got some interesting insights as well over the times ;)
