Limits

Thursday September 20, 2007 at 09:19PM

I'm very happy to see groups finally implemented, but it seems so, that as a non-pro I can only join 10 groups. While I'm already reached this limit, I have to decline all further invitations. Sorry, my friends :(

Nevertheless, I already founded two groups. One is for pictures from Bonn, the city I'm living in since one year, and the other one is for pictures from Japan, the wonderful country I had the pleasure to live in for two years.

The two groups you'll find if you click on the following links:

www.ipernity.com/group/bonn

www.ipernity.com/group/japan

Please, come and join them

i was waiting for groups but now that they are hear i'm not sure how i feel about it. i'm also not pro... the currency exchange makes it seem expensive to me so i've held out and not really needed it. ah well. 10 groups is probably enough for me.

I will become a PRO next month. I think it is worth the money. I´ve payed for flickr too. The limit of 10 groups is a bit to less for my humble opinion. Not good for getting new members.

Yes, 10 is for sure not enough. Don't think there is such a limit on flickr, only the number of groups per picture is limited, as I remember correctly.

But I will wait. Now there is again some hype, but if it is slowing down as fast as the first one, it will not be worth to spend money.

So let's see how things will proceed.

I think these are important feedbacks for the Team. Consider adding their member tags: this way I think they will review this thread.

Thanks for adding them ;)

Personally I would suggest another limit, something like 5 groups per image or so. But the ten groups limit is the most restrictive one for non-pros here on ipernity. The existence of such a limit I can understand, but maybe they should lift it up to 20, or so. I think it would encourage non-pros to be more active here.

I didn't thought that if you administer a group this is one of the 10... :o(
And if I am honest: I have more different interest in photography than only 10. It's hard to make a decision.

Is it so hard for you guys to become a PRO? 24 euros a year for such a fantastic site???

manganite replies:
I will see, if the site starts to grow now, maybe I will buy one. But still I have a flickr account, and after winning a free one year flickr pro account, I have it until 2009...

I actually LIKE having a limit. I0 was always the number i aimed for on flckr.... that is about the right number that I can keep active in. More than that and the temptation to drop and go is tooooo much. If I am honest though, I always kept more on the order of 15-20 because there were several groups I mostly browsed(along with explore) to find good and fresh photographers. Sooo, I have to keep a folder in my browsers faves for those groups here on ipernity. Not the most convenient, but fine, just the same.

Hmmm...maybe i should suggest a "fave a group" feature to TeamIpernity. They have faves of sets and stuff here, maybe it would fly?

manganite replies:
No, that's not for me. What I'm interested is much more than one can make with 10 groups. But for the moment it's okay. I'm just looking what's going on...

The problem is not to pay or not to pay.
The problem is the community, the movement.
ipernity is way cooler and better that flickr but since so few people use it, is not so a interesting place for Photography as flickr is.

The groups concept is fundamental fur the exchange of ideas , communication, culture, etc.

If ipernity limits the groups, limits its own growth as well.
