Hello everybody
It has been a long time since our last message. We wrongly believed that no news were needed if no new service or improvement was released on ipernity. It was a mistake. So please accept our sincere apologies.
What has happened over the last 12 months?
Early 2010, we started the development of a new content rating and filtering system aiming to protect minors from inappropriate content. As we work on this project we realized that we should totally rebuild our technical architecture to maintain top quality service.
That's what we've been working on for the 12 past months. Unfortunately, this work is not yet visible to end-users. But it could be soon: we've just hired 2 more talents, Xavier and Olivier, who will join our technical team in a couple of days. So we'll be able to complete our current work more quickly.
As soon as our new technical platform is ready, we'll put all our efforts to release several new features we've already talked about (content rating and filtering system, Twitter and Facebook integration, automated geotagging, new printing services, collections and so on...) Most of these projects are almost completed.
The next stage will be a complete redesign of the ipernity pages, clearer, nicer, and more practical. Most of the graphical work is already completed too.
We don't want to communicate on the schedule since it could create some disappointment among our users and unnecessary stress among our team. Let us give time to build a top-quality service designed to last.
You can be sure that we never stopped working on ipernity and we'll always do it. We believe in ipernity as the ultimate service for digital assets and memories.
We'd like to end this message by warmly thanking all of you. You bring every day to ipernity the most essential thing: Life!

You really don't get it. You didn't mess things up by not bringing ipernity up to technical standards, you messed things up by not communicating and showing that you don't care about our concerns. Period.
You'll have to do *much* better to bring me back here.

To implement a filter-system in php a normal developer needs max. one week incl. testing face. He don't need to be from the elite as well..
So please "team" of ipernity...don't try to wash sand in our eyes...

on January 17 - that was almost 5 months ago.
I didn't even bother writing new tickets, for example about new uploads of certain pro (!) member contacts I can only see when I use the "last 24 hours" setting, let alone the fact that I see yet completely different pictures when I use "in the last 2 days". The explanation given many months ago was that non-pro members pictures don't show up right away - and that is OK. But why are certain paying pro member's pictures treated the same way?
The other way around: My own mother can't see my newly uploaded semi-private (friends and family only) pictures, even though I am definitely a long time pro member, and even though she is definitely logged in when she checks for new activity among her very few contacts - and my other friends and family can definitely see them right away.
The whole "last activity" system (new uploads, new comments) since a very long time doesn't make any sense - so why not get THAT more stable first, before making "graphical" changes?
And there's still the unresolved issue with the visitor counters which count backwards overnight. Several of my friends have already left ipernity because it bothered them, among other technical things. Many people already mentioned that in their blogs, but so far, I have never seen an official answer for that.
In the beginning, I felt like the team definitely deserved my payments, but in the meantime I'm just not so sure anymore that we are really heard when we try to help make Ipernity a better place ...

Lange ist es her, seit unserer letzten Meldung. Wir gingen fälschlicher Weise davon aus, dass keine Meldungen nötig wären, wenn keine Verbesserungen an ipernity gemacht werden. Das war etwas ungeschickt, verzeihen Sie uns dies bitte.
Was ist in den letzten 12 Monaten passiert?
Anfang 2010 begannen wir, ein Inhaltsbewertungs-System zu entwickeln, um Minderjährige vor ungeeigneten Inhalten zu schützen. Während wir daran arbeiteten, stellten wir fest, dass wir unsere Systemarchitektur komplett umschreiben müssen, um den bestmöglichen Dienst anzubieten.
Und genau daran haben wir die letzten 12 Monate gearbeitet. Leider sind diese Änderungen für den Endanwender nicht ersichtlich. Allerdings könnte es bald soweit sein: Wir haben kürzlich mit Xavier und Olivier zwei begabte neue Mitarbeiter eingestellt, die in ein paar Tagen das Technik-Team verstärken werden. Damit werden wir unsere aktuellen Arbeiten schneller beenden können
Sobald unsere neue technische Platform steht, werden wir all unser Engagement in neue Funktionen investieren, über die wir bereits berichtet haben (Bewertung von Inhalten, Twitter- und Facebook-Integration, automatisches Geotagging, neuer Druckdienst, Sammlungen, und so weiter …). Die meisten dieser Projekte sind fast fertig.
Die nächste Stufe wird eine komplette grafische Neugestaltung der ipernity-Seiten sein. Klarer, schöner, und zweckmäßiger. Das meiste der grafischen Arbeiten ist bereits fertig.
Wir wollen keinen Zeitplan veröffentlichen, weil dies zu Enttäuschungen bei unseren Nutzern, und Stress bei unseren Entwicklern führen kann. Lassen Sie uns bitte etwas Zeit, einen hochqualitativen, und beständigen Dienst bereitzustellen.
Sie können sich sicher sein, dass wir nie aufgehört haben, an ipernity zu arbeiten, und wir werden auch weiterhin daran arbeiten. Wir sehen in ipernity den besten Dienst für digitale Bildersammlungen und Erinnerungen.

It is much harder to keep doing or going than just making something new.
A couple days ago, I found the restaurant my parents took me when I was little.
It was there, unchanged. I feel "my little hometown" with it.
Wish to have the net service like that one :)
I appreciate iper team keeps going on their way.
But the ipernity blog platform is still woeful, and it would take some dramatic improvement to bring me back.
