Some fresh news, features and improvements

Friday July 27, 2007 at 02:26PM

[EN]Hello all!

As you know, we are not in holidays (it's always holidays on the sunny French riviera ;-)), and we are working hard to better ipernity more and more everyday. Here are some fresh news:

- about 503 error some of you encountered one week ago: problem was due to a failure in one network adapter. This is now fixed.

- about technical platform upsizing: we've just finished to upsize our infrastructure. Everything seems to go well, and we are ready to welcome a huge amount of new members, pictures, trafic and so...

- about translation: Italian is finished (you can have a look at here). It remains some small things to be translated in Spanish and German. We plan to release those 3 languages at the same time very soon. Thanks again to our dear volunteers. Portuguese will follow. We've just put online a powerful translation tool which allows us from now to release very quickly ipernity in more languages.

- tag improvement: EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, ID3 and other metadata are now imported when uploading documents. It means title, description, keywords, lat., long. ... fields are automatically filled from information included in original documents (when available). Warning: documents including latitude and longitude data are not automatically geotagged (since they are not all relevant). We'll propose soon a feature to help members in geotagging documents with lat. and long. data.

- new 1024x1024 size of pictures: as requested by various members, we propose now a bigger size for pictures (it took several days to produce them from all your originals ;-)). Go to "all sizes" button above each picture to see. We'll propose very soon slideshow and feeds based on this new size. Enjoy!

- color profile: color profile is now stored in all thumbnails we produce from your original pictures. This will help compliant browsers such as Safari for a better rendering of pictures displayed.

- groups: of course we didn't forget "groups". This is a major improvement and it needs time. Around 50% is implemented. We are focusing on. So please, stay tuned and be patient. (keep in mind we are only 3!!)

That's all for the moment!

We hope you again a nice and sunny Summer (while we are working for you ;-D)

Stay tuned!

Hire me! ;-) Or keep in mind to document the API so other could participate in the development.

Anyway, great feeling to be there. I mean - inside - outside it's rainy since a few weeks... not real summer there. :)

Yipee!!!! Hurrah!!! I'm so happy with this, it was top on my list - no need to upload through another site any more - great!!!

Warning: documents including latitude and longitude data are not automatically geotagged (since they are not all relevant). We'll propose soon a feature to help members in geotagging documents with lat. and long. data.

I look forward to reading that!
If anyone reading this can recommend a PC programme to geotag / insert latitude and longitude data with the photo I'd be very grateful for your suggestions...

- new 1024x1024 size of pictures:....We'll propose very soon slideshow and feeds based on this new size. Enjoy!

I've been greatly enjoying this feature since it was launched - a great improvement for me. :-)
Are there plans for an option allowing everyone to see the "Big" size but only Friends or Family to download the original?

I said I'd go Pro once you got the EXIF data up and running but I jumped the gun when I saw the pictures in "Big" size - you do not disappoint and are definitely worth supporting! :-)

THANK YOU!

Please could you fix a simple way of having automatic geotagging of pictures when they have latitude and longitude data ?

Either as a fully automatic service. If the exif data is there - geotag it or as a preference choice. As "YES" is want geotag or "NO" ignore it when uploading.
Or even as a option in the doc manager. Drag the pictures you want geotagged automatic and then choose it.

Right now its pretty annoying to have to go over 254 shots and manual geotag them, when the information is already there.

Keep up the good work.
Posted 2 years ago. ( permalink )
Christian Contipro replies:
Indeed, we plan to propose a way to easily geotag pictures with lat. and long.

Since 7/27 none of my new pictures appears in the search results. No change for the pictures posted before. I use the flickr-import script to upload my pictures. All tags are nicely transfered and when I explore them, all pics are shown. But only in the old one appear in the search results.

And another issue: I couldn't see any resized image if I upload something.
Take a look at www.ipernity.com/doc/15299/471977 or www.ipernity.com/doc/15299/471978 - there are just the originalfiles - the other ones are plain white. :-(

Adblock Plus was doing the same for me. ;-) I solved this by adding a new rule "@@|*.ipernity.com/" to the configuration. But maybe ipernity should avoid putting "AD" in the path of image filenames.

Great!
In particular the support for EXIF/IPTC meta data. Of course there are a few minor things ... ;-)
- EXIF Artist/OwnerName data is automatically added to title/tags, this is not really necessary. Anyway, you should use IPTC Creator if present.
- It would be nice, if IPTC location data Location/City/Region/Country/CountrCode would be added to the tags.
- iperUloadr hasn't been updated and doesn't work very well with this new feature.

Nevertheless, thanks for implementing this, helps a lot.

Just checking in to see if there's any news on the geotagging yet :-)
I've got a large bunch of pictures which contain EXIF geodata that hasn't been used by Ipernity so far (it's displayed in the EXIF page, though) - is there any way to transfer these coordinates into geotags?

PS. Keep up the good work - Ipernity rocks for sure :-)

Hello, Team ipernity!

Well, since it's been more than a year since this post (and since you've not yet answered my support email or the post from Tr1stero above or anything in this regard)... how is this proposed feature progressing? Having to manually geotag all my photos with GPS exif tags is a royal pain...

Kind regards
