Week 27 important notice : maintenance operations planned / opérations de maintenance prévues

Monday July 2nd, 2007 at 10:51AM

Dear Members, Chers Membres,

ipernity's activity is growing fast. Our platform needs to be upgraded from time to time in the goal of welcoming more traffic with quality and security. Some maintenance operations have been planned on week#27 (from 02/07/2007 to 08/07/2007), and may cause service disturbances or unavailabilities. We'll do our best to minimize inconveniences and to keep you informed and by advance in this Blog. We apologize again.

Keep up the great work of both the site and the communication about what is going on.

One suggestion, with the amount of international people on here and the many different ways we write the date, how about writing it in such a way that there is no confusion. 04/07/2007 could be the 7th of April or 4th July depending where you come from.

Write it in such a way that there is no doubt (eg 2nd July 2007 to the 8th July 2007)

Christian Contipro replies:
okay. Normally "/" is used in Europe (02/07/2007), and "-" in North America (07-02-2007), but 2nd July 2007 is fine!

It's not so much the spacer as the order, US puts MM/DD/YYYY in Australia we put DD/MM/YYYY so as you can imagine just putting 10/4/2007 can cause some confusion.

Carstenpro replies:
Well use ISO format then: YYYY-MM-DD. For many this is unusual but I think most will understand correctly... ;)

Thanks for the information.

Could I make a suggestion? How about adding a small message in the Ipernity News section of the users homepages? There's so much going on that I sometimes miss such important information. And people who don't have you on their contacts list will find it easier.
