Upload your photos from Picasa!

Wednesday January 14, 2009 at 03:16PM

Picasa users, you can now upload your photos directly from Picasa to ipernity with one click!

Install the ipernity button to your Picasa that will send photos directly to your ipernity space.

Here's how to install the ipernity button.

Picasa must be installed onto your PC. Got Picasa?

1. Go to the upload page and click this link

2. Click yes when asked if you want to install a button:

3. Add the ipernity button to the Picasa button bar.

To upload photos from your Picasa to ipernity

1. Push the ipernity button at the bottom to log into ipernity. Then close the popup window.

2. From Picasa, choose the photos to be uploaded, selecting a whole folder or CTRL-clicking items one-by-one

3. Push again the ipernity button. You'll be asked sharing, album and tags settings

4. At last, click the "upload to ipernity" button.

That's all. So simple ;-)

Thank you very much. I didn't dare to ask for this application. It is ultraconvenient!
Next would be a sync-feature ala google-webalbums :-)

Very cool! Thanks a lot, that makes Picasa a lot more interesting again (switched to Faststone). I heard it's not possible to resize the images before upload. Do you plan to integrate such a feature in the ipernity button?
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Team ipernitypro replies:
Unfortunately, the Picasa API is very basic and does not allow resizing images.

tuvalupro replies:
That's bad. and strange too, they have that feature for exporting images. I hope they'll add that to their API.

Дон Андре replies:
I asked because the upload to Picasa Webalbum had the option to choose different sizes and I thought this would be available for others as well.

I've read this on the Picasa Web Uploader API page: "Picasa requires a single URL to interact with your server. All relevant information is provided to a server in a single post. Your server can request that images be resized to arbitrary sizes on the client to save time. PWU replicates existing image-upload forms closely whenever possible."
Weird, that the client isn't able to specify this as well. But maybe, the client can tell the server to tell the client to resize the pictures before upload. Is this possible on the form that the server sends back to the client?

Anthony le Bourlierpro replies:
You can choose to "export" some photo in a smaller format with picasa
then upload the resolution you want !
No need to ask ipernity to do it, Picasa do it already
:))
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
tuvalupro replies:
That is correct, but it would be more comfortable and easier to explain (This way you have to find where the exportet pictures go), if you could do it in one go.

i'm sure you're clever enough to go on picasa and look the "F1" on your keyboard ;-)

Me, I am, for sure. But I have to explain and help others with Ipernity too. And the easier it is for others to learn, the easier it is for me to explain... smile

tuvalupro replies:
Oh now, I think there's nothing I could teach you. Your far beond that point... laught

What I was trying to say. For example my father is here at Ipernity too. So I had to explain them how to use his computer. How to get the pictures from his camera into the computer. How to edit them basically and upload them to Ipernity. These are a lot of things to learn. So the more steps you can do in one go, the easier it is to explain how to do these steps. That's why I would like to have the possibilty of size reduction as well.

But as we know now, the problem is not Ipernity not wanting to include that, but Google not giving the possibilty via the API. So we have to wait for Google anyway.
